Canadian Red Cross Society (The), Niagara Area Branches
Niagara Falls, St Catharines, Welland, Fonthill, Port Colborne
The Canadian Red Cross & McMaster University are launching a unique community health initiative called the Cardiovascular Health Awarerness Program. The goal of this program is to improve the cardiovascular health of older adults in Niagara. Community Connector volunteers in this program will visit subsidized housing buildings in teams of 3 (accompanied by a research nurse) and perform various medical assessments related to cardiovascular health and diabetes. This will all be tracked on an iPad application which provides the information to the research team and the client's primary health care team. Clients can then participate in group educational sessions run by CRC volunteers. We are seeking volunteers 18+ for a minimum of 3 hours/month for at least 6 months.
