If this sounds like you, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and the Niagara CIBC Run for the Cure team has the perfect volunteer opportunity for you - Volunteer Run Director - Logistics. Run Directors are the community catalyst in every Run site. Together with a committee of like-minded individuals, you will raise funds for breast cancer research and support programs through the CIBC Run for the Cure. Planning and organizing the CIBC Run for the Cure takes time, passion and creative thinking.
As the Volunteer Run Director – Logistics your time will be spent managing and empowering your committee to rally support and participants, as well as driving the logistical elements of the CIBC Run for the Cure.
While collaborating with your Co-Volunteer Run Director and the CCS staff, you will lead a team of volunteers who will develop and execute a site plan, organize a 1km and 5km route, and recruit a team of volunteers to support all local Run activities.
You will collaborate with your Co-Volunteer Run Director to lead meetings, motivate your committee, and act as a local ambassador for the organization. You will assist the CCS staff in vacant committee positions and work with your fellow committee members to fill any voids. You will keep the Run site’s fundraising goal top of mind by working with committee members to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
To ensure your success as Run Director – Logistics you will have the constant support of the CCS staff who will answer your questions, provide guidance and assistance when necessary, and connect you with other Run Leaders.

There are roles for those interested in a long term committee position, and other roles for those who are interested in a single day volunteer experience.
Duties include: pledge earner recruiters, publicity volunteers, recruitment volunteers, logistics volunteers, prize and goody bag volunteers, entertainment volunteers as well as committee roles.

The Support Committee does a lot of the "behind the scenes" work to support the activities of the Corps.
Cabinet Member: As a cabinet member, you commit to one monthly meeting and being involved with the planning and execution of GenNext events throughout the year. Cabinet members also take part in any decision making surrounding the structure of the cabinet.
Ambassador: As a GenNext ambassador, you are invited to participate as a volunteer at GenNext events throughout the year. There is no commitment to be an ambassador which allows for more flexibility. Events include volunteering at the GenNext parties at our After School Programs. Tasks include helping with event day tasks such as leading a game or craft.
We also need day of assistance by way of security, traffic control, costumes and characters and general line-up assistance.
Reception / General Administration
•Perform reception duties
•Greet and attend to any donors / stakeholders that come in, in a friendly, professional manner
•Complete data entry, data management and record keeping for programs & campaigns
•Responsible for receipting and inputting on Niagara area programs and any donations received
•Receive and distribute courier / bus / mail on a daily basis
•Perform other duties as required by the Program Managers, Provincial Administrators and other staff
•Answer calls to main switchboard, address inquiries or forward as needed
•Assist with communications to potential and existing partners such as, preparing written correspondence, sending fax / e-mails, distributing newsletters, making confirmation and follow-up phone calls
•Assist with preparation for promotional activities and materials, such as business / mall displays, promotion kits, Heart Month Kick-Off & Appreciation events
•Ensure supply box for event day packed and ready to go
•Print of Kintera sheets the morning of events for accurate and up to date donation totals
•Train and oversee on-site volunteers for P2P / Big Bike and other Niagara office volunteers
•Assist with relationship management, including attending events
•Event registration and money management
•Encourage enthusiastic participation and provide excellent customer service
•Maintain complete and orderly records for all designated programs
•Assist with calls to volunteers to confirm their return or recruitment of other volunteers

Volunteers will be provided with a team description in advance which outlines the tasks for each day. The Volunteer coordinator will be in touch periodically to check in and ensure the training materials and instructions are understood well received. All volunteers will also have a Team Captain to help communicate detail and support their volunteer journey.
