|Description (Service)||A mandatory emissions test certain vehicles must pass prior to being licenced to drive on Ontario roads.
Drivers will be notified whether they require the test when they recieve thier licence registration renewal documents. Vehicles 7 years or older will get the test every 2 years and heavy-duty vehicles will require the test every year after 7 years.

Tests must be performed at an accredited facility by a certified inspector. These private operators run the test and individuals are given a test report.

To report a smoking vehicle call the toll-free number with the licence plate number, vehicle description, smoke colour, location, time and date when vehicle was seen.

* Retest fees (light-duty vehicles): Up to $17.50 per test, if it is done at the same facility that performed the initial test. $30 (plus
tax) if the retest is performed: more than 120 days after the initial test, after 2 retests at $17.50 each, at a facility other than
where the original test was done
* Heavy-duty vehicles: Each facility sets its own fees. Applicable taxes are extra.
