Service and Access Details
Description (Service) Provides information and the collection of garbage, recycling and organics for Niagara Region.  
 
Large Household Item Collection 
* Only single-family homes and apartments with 6 or less units are eligible for this service and items must at the curb by 7 am on regular collection day 
* Pick up requests must be submitted at least two working days before your regular garbage collection day by contacting your collection contractor or by using the online form 
* Broken containers (Blue Box, Grey Box, Green Bin, Kitchen Catchers) are also collected as part of the large item pick-up program. A broken container sticker is required, which can be obtained at any container distribution location 
 
Disposal of appliances/scrap metal: Appliances/scrap metal are no longer collected from the curb. These items can be taken to a Niagara Region Drop-off Depot or you can contact a private scrap metal company for pick-up. See website for disposal options.  
 
Electronics, automotive, and construction wastes are not accepted for curbside collection. Recycle them at a drop off location
 
Disposal of Sharps 
 
For disposal of sharps found on public property (parks or roads), call the Waste Info Line at 905-356-4141 or 1-800-594-5542. For instructions on how to dispose of sharps on private property, see website.
