|Description (Service)||Provides information and the collection of garbage, recycling and organics for Niagara Region. Electronic waste is no longer accepted for curbside collection.
Large items pick up:
-pick up requests must be submitted at least two working days before your regular garbage collection day. Call Emterra Environmental at 905-227-7771 or 1-855-227-7771 to schedule collection
-place the items outside ready for pick-up by 7am on regular collection day
-only single-family homes and apartments with 6 or less units are eligible for this service
-refrigeration units including refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners are also collected as part of this service but require a Refrigerant Removal sticker. Residents must purchase a Refrigerant Removal sticker for $20 each, from local convenience stores (i.e. Avondale). Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed and/or secured to prevent possible danger to children.
-unsafe infant car seats placed out at the curb for collection must have the straps cut and/or removed from the car seat and "EXPIRED", "CRASHED" or "UNSAFE" written on the shell of the seat with a marker to avoid re-use.
-broken containers (Blue Box, Grey Box, Green Bin, Kitchen Catchers) are also collected as part of the large item pick-up program. A broken container sticker is required, which can be obtained at any container distribution location.
