Description (Service) | Provides home safety assessments and recommendations at no cost, to help seniors remain safe and independent in their homes. Falls prevention education provided to seniors and caregivers * community and professional presentations * ‘Wellness Guest Speaker’ can also be requested Safety at Home(SAH) - services include: free home assessments * referrals for installation of assistive devices, minor home repairs and modifications * referrals to other agencies * assistive devices subsidies and coordination of installation, for those who qualify (ie grab bars) * fall prevention education * community and professional presentations Leaf and Snow Buddies match volunteers with their elderly neighbours to help keep their driveway and sidewalk clear of snow in the winter and rake leaves in the fall. If volunteers are students, they may obtain community services hours for school credit. This service is aimed to help prevent falls. |
