Description (Service) A worldwide human rights movement. Opposes torture and death penalties in all cases. Demands the prompt release of all prisoners of conscience and the prompt and fair trial of political prisoners. Amnesty works on behalf of "the disappeared". Prevention of human rights abuses is at the top of the agenda. Increasing people's awareness of human rights everywhere is a high priority. Campaign by letter writing and petitions.
