Description (Service) | COVID-19 assessment centre * out-of-hospital clinic where people will be assessed by a health-care provider and tested for COVID-19 if required * the test involves taking a sample from the throat or nose with a swab. To increase safety, efficiency and screen more patients, the Assessment Centre also offers a drive-through service for those referred. People eligible for the drive-through service will be notified when their appointment is booked, and will be guided to the drive-through area when they arrive in their vehicle. A physician will ask people to roll their window down and turn off their car. The physician will complete a swab, and the patient can drive off. If the physician recognizes the need for further assessment, they will direct the patient to park and wait to be called into the Assessment Centre. COVID-19 lab test results can now be accessed ONLINE. It can take up to approximately seven days to receive test results for COVID-19. Niagara Region Public Health will follow-up with individuals only if they test positive for COVID-19. |

Eligibility | Individuals should only seek testing if they are: * Showing COVID-19 symptoms; * Have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, as informed by their public health unit or exposure notification through the COVID Alert app; * A resident or work in a setting that has a COVID-19 outbreak, as identified and informed by their local public health unit; and * Eligible for testing as part of a targeted testing initiative directed by the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Long-Term Care |
Application | Appointments mandatory. Call to schedule. Assessment Centres have separate entrances from the hospital. Those wishing to be tested are asked not to arrive at the main entrance or through the Emergency Department. |
