|Description (Service)||Offers free, culturally sensitive and inclusive programs to adult caregivers. Provides information on community resources to help the caregiver navigate the health system and learn what type of assistance is available.
Three different training programs are offered in cities across the region. Programs serve to strengthen caregivers’ competence, improve knowledge and skills, help manage stress, prevent burnout and improve caregivers’ experience in caring for others in a meaningful way.
* Caregiver Training: will focus on how to navigate the caregiver role, effective communication, supportive safety strategies and self-care, adapting to change and community resources, hands-on caregiving skills (training available in English and in French)
* Self-Care for the Caregiver program: will focus on how to build inner strength and resilience, manage stress and develop a sense of self
The Caregiver Network of Niagara is an initiative created through the partnership of family health teams, community health centres, the Alzheimer Society Niagara Region, the Centre de santé communautaire, and Hospice Niagara.
