|Description (Service)||Provides support programs and information on learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder.
FAMILY SUPPORT Provides children and adolescents with support through volunteers who have successfully completed the training program. Parent program offered in St Catharines.
READING ROCKSA one-on-one literacy program for children in Grades 2 - 10 provided by a trained volunteer tutor who designs an individual literacy program based on child’s needs. Program runs in St Catharines, Beamsville and Welland.
READING ROCKS JUNIOR A small group early intervention literacy program for children in JK and Grade 1 running in Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, St Catharines, Thorold, South Niagara, for families with children needing extra support in their early literacy skills.
LET'S R.E.A.D. (Read, Explore and Discover!) A small group literacy program for children in Grades 2 - 4 performing a minimum of one year behind in their reading. Children work on phonics, sight words, fluency, and self-regulation in a group setting and have an opportunity to work one-on-one with a literacy instructor in the area of their greatest need. The program runs in St Catharines/Thorold, Fort Erie and Port Colborne.
S.M.A.R.T. Math (Supporting Math Anxiety and Resilience Together) A small group math intervention program for children in Grades 2-3 who are demonstrating difficulties in mathematics and showing signs of math anxiety. Children will work on math fact fluency (automaticity), number sense and computation (relationships between numbers, counting, etc.), and math applications (time, money, shapes, etc.) in a group setting and have an opportunity to work one-on-one with a math instructor in the area of their greatest need.
B.E.S.T. (Better Emotional & Social Times) a small group program for children ages 6 - 11 to develop their social skills and self-advocacy skills. A facilitator leads a group of children through various activities covering topics such as self-advocating, listening skills, organization, respect, caring, manners, cooperation, strategies and more.
SUMMER PROGRAM S.L.A.M. (Sunshine, Learning, Achievement & More) A full-day summer literacy program for children ages 6 - 10 with reading difficulties designed to foster literacy, self-advocacy/social skills and self-esteem. Includes a recreational component.
PARENT SUPPORT H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Parent Effectively) a parent-led support group for parents/guardians of children with ADHD. Meetings are held in St Catharines.
LENDING LIBRARY Specialty books are available to members of LDANR without charge. Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, Teaching/Learning Strategies, Parenting, Tourette Syndrome etc.

These programs are designed to support children who are struggling with a learning disability, however the individual does not need to be formally diagnosed with a learning disability to participate. LDANR recognizes that a formal diagnosis is not always possible for families and therefore children who are struggling in their academics and social life due to an identified or suspected learning disability are welcomed. Children must demonstrate a reading struggle and reading below grade level to be eligible for programs.
Applicants will be screened for other exceptionalities (i.e. autism, down syndrome, FAS, developmental delays, etc.) as LDANR's mandate is to offer programs and services for those with learning disabilities. LDANR is not designed to treat students with severe mental health or students with severe emotional and behavioural issues. B.E.S.T. and S.L.A.M. programs are not behavioural programs, but rather programs to support children with learning disabilities through LD awareness, self-advocacy, building self-esteem and social skills.
