Description (Service) | Free, in-home 12-week exercise program designed specifically for older adults living at home. Program includes: * 10 simple, progressive exercises taught and guided by a trained support staff or volunteer * Evidence based, best practice program nationally, developed by the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging (CCAA) in partnership with Western University * Materials provided to assist individuals to exercise independently, such as exercise guide and tracking sheets * 3 levels of exercise support available (seated, seated and weight bearing, and ambulatory) * Focus on strength, balance, and flexibility, toward maintaining/improving functional abilities and fall prevention Exercises are generally safe for older adults to do each day. Physician consent is requested by MODC prior to starting toward safe participation. |
