Description (Service) | An exercise program designed for anyone with the diagnosis of Parkinson’s or any other neurological disorder. This program includes three types of therapeutic exercise: muscle strengthening, balance training, and flexibility exercises. Exercises are graduated, starting with the simplest and advancing as appropriate. Participants are taught how to monitor their heart rates, and are encouraged to reach a moderate intensity during exercise classes. As a direct result, endurance capabilities of participants improve, resulting in improved health, energy and strength. Programs are taught by non-regulated health professionals such as a physiotherapy/ occupational therapy assistant or instructors certified in seniors fitness. Eligibility | Members of the public with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease or any other neurological disorder. All eligible members of the public are welcome, but must have own transportation and be able to participate in a group setting. |
