Service and Access Details
Description (Service) Authorized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to legally provide professional care and rehabilitation for all species (birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, etc.) for orphaned, injured, and sick native wildlife in Niagara. Also authorized to work with rabies vector species. Federal Canadian Wildlife Services permit holder to provide wildlife rehabilitation care for all birds under the Migratory Birds Treaty Act. All native wildlife is released back to its habitat, when it has recovered or can function on it's own. Not for profit, non government funded wildlife rehabilitation centre dependent solely on donations from the public.  
 
Also operates a sanctuary for parrots, birds, and other exotic mammals, birds or reptiles, whose owners can no longer keep them for various reasons. Non-native exotic animals are given permanent sanctuary.  
 
Native wildlife education speaking presentations available for schools or community groups - donation based. Presentations catered to needs of group. 
 
Not open for public tours, not a zoo.

Eligibility Volunteers must be 18 and older
Application To contact NWH about any orphaned or injured wild animals please send an email with pertinent details, your name, address, phone numbers, and the exact problem. That information is necessary to provide assistance. If it is an emergency and the animal is badly injured, contact the local SPCA or animal control agency for immediate assistance.
