Description (Service) Assists eligible low income households with rent arrears and first and/or last months rent as a 0%, no penalty loan.

Eligibility - Income below Low Income Measure (LIM)  
- Have applied for Ontario Works housing stability benefit and been declined  
- Receipt of financial assistance should allow the applicant to maintain or acquire housing, in order to promote the sustainability of the applicant’s living situation. 
- Threat of eviction or unable to secure first and/or last months rent  
- When applicable, demonstrated prior attempt to pay rent 
- Applicant must be named on the lease or on the signed intent to rent declaration  
- Applicant must not have an outstanding loan for previous access of Rent Bank funds and must not have utilized Rent Bank funds in the previous 12 months. 
- Applicants seeking assistance with first and/or last month's rent must be moving to a location where the cost of rent will result in a significant savings  
- If applicant does not meet the income threshold or the screening guidelines set above, the Salvation Army may exercise discretion in exceptional circumstances and approve the applicant
