Description (Service) A volunteer based, community organization offering a range of humanitarian and emergency services. 
 
Disaster Management - Provides short-term, personal disaster assistance such as food, clothing and lodging in small scale disasters * responds to larger scale disasters within the Niagara Region in cooperation with government and other agencies * delivers personal preparedness workshops to interested groups and have volunteer opportunities available (contact ext 7238). To volunteer, call 1-844-818-2155. 
 
Passage Home and Volunteer Transportation Services - Provides transportation for older adults and people over 18 years of age with disabilities who are unable to drive or travel with conventional transit services for medical appointments, social and educational outings * Areas: Niagara Area ranging from Erie Lakeside, Niagara Falls, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Wainfleet, St Catharines, Fonthill, Grimsby. Applications can be taken over the phone and for appointment bookings please call Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30. To volunteer, call 905-680-4099 ext 7249. 
 
Port Colborne and Grimsby Specialized Transit - Operated by The Canadian Red Cross for persons with a disability and/or who would be unable to board a conventional transit vehicle or walk a distance of 175 metres (600 ft.) * This service is available to those travelling within the municipalities of Port Colborne/Wainfleet or Grimsby. 
 
Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program - In collaboration with the Dept. of Family Medicine at McMaster University, this 12-month program aims to improve the cardiovascular and diabetic health of low-income seniors in the Niagara Region. Clients receive free assessments, like blood pressure readings, and complete the CANRISK diabetes assessment with trained volunteers. Registered nurses are also on site to see clients in need of additional attention. To volunteer, email CHAPNiagara@redcross.ca
