Description (Service) | COVID-19: Help Desk for Indigenous Leadership: Provides information and referrals on: * Planning for Health Emergencies such as guidance and training on how to protect your community. * Health Guidance such as hand-washing, physical distancing and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). * Community Wellness and Protection such as online information for children and youth, suggestions for family activities while physical distancing, and Psychological First Aid. The knowledge, resources and referrals shared through the Help Desk will help leaders in Indigenous communities in their own planning activities related to COVID-19. Help Desk available Mon-Sun 8 am-8 pm (Central Standard Time). Please call 1-833-937-1597 A volunteer based, community organization offering a range of humanitarian and emergency services. Emergency Management - Provides short-term, personal disaster assistance such as food, clothing and lodging in small scale disasters * responds to larger scale disasters within the Niagara Region in cooperation with government and other agencies * delivers Be Ready workshops on how to be prepared to protect yourself and your family in the event of an emergency to interested groups and there are volunteer opportunities available within the Emergency Management program. Transportation Program - Provides transportation for older adults and people over 18 years of age with disabilities who are unable to drive or travel with conventional transit services for medical appointments, social and educational outings. Transportation available in all 12 local municipalities within Niagara. Long distance travel also possible for medical appointments in Hamilton or Toronto. Our drivers use a combination of cars, vans and accessible buses to provide transportation. Please phone to register for service or to schedule transportation Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30.
