Description (Service)

A volunteer based, community organization offering a range of humanitarian and emergency services.

Disaster Management - Provides short-term, personal disaster assistance such as food, clothing and lodging in small scale disasters * responds to larger scale disasters within the Niagara Region in cooperation with government and other agencies * delivers personal preparedness workshops to interested groups and have volunteer opportunities available* contact ext 7238

Department of Philanthropy - Accepts donations on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross and for international appeals * income tax receipts will be issued for donations above $25 (receipts available for amount below $25 upon request) * Donate online at http://www.redcross.ca/

Passage Home and Volunteer Transportation Services - Provides transportation for older adults and people over 18 years of age with disabilities who are unable to drive or travel with conventional transit services for medical appointments, social and educational outings * Areas: Niagara Area ranging from Erie Lakeside, Niagara Falls, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Wainfleet, St Catharines, Fonthill, Grimsby. Applications can be taken over the phone and for appointment bookings please call Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30

Transportation Volunteer Opportunities - Volunteers use their own vehicle to provide transportation to appointments * Volunteers are reimbursed km travelled and can set their own schedule as to when they are available and where they would be willing to travel to * Contact 905-680-4099 ext 7249 for additional information for transportation volunteers

Port Colborne and Grimsby Specialized Transit - Operated by The Canadian Red Cross for persons with a disability and/or who would be unable to board a conventional transit vehicle or walk a distance of 175 metres (600 ft.) * This service is available to those travelling within the municipalities of Port Colborne/Wainfleet or Grimsby.

Specialized Transit - Operates FAST (Fort Erie Specialized Transit). (See separate program records)
