Description (Service) | Works in partnership with government and non-government groups with the goals of: restoring some of the natural environment to the Niagara Region, providing a place for fun and fellowship and acting as a source of information about current environmental issues. Projects have included: Trees for Niagara: Wildlife Corridor Enhancement of the 15, 16, and 18 Mile Creek Watersheds, building stream buffers for Niagara's rivers, Fish Barrier survey and removal project in the Niagara River Watershed (which includes the Welland River and its tributaries), Restoring Niagara's Short Hills project and One Mile Creek - Landsdowne Pond Wetland Biodiversity Enhancement Project. Reference material, known as the Niagara River Repository, is available in the Public Library. Also Involved in the ecosystem enhancement project of Baden Powell Park in Niagara Falls. |
