Description (Service) COVID-19 - Both offices are closed to the public and in-person programs and supports have been suspended until further notice. New families are still being registered and new referrals are being accepted. Service delivery is taking place via telephone and virtual platforms. 
 
Young caregivers are children, youth and young adults (ages 5 to 25) who have a family member that requires care due to illness (mental, physical), disability (cognitive, physical), or addictions. 
 
The Powerhouse program offers a variety of services and activities, including counselling, to empower young caregivers and their families to foster resilience, reduce isolation and caregiver fatigue, alleviate stress and anxiety, and invest peer support and life skills.

Eligibility Ages: 5 year(s) - 25 year(s) 
 
Children, youth and young adults, who are in a caregiving role for a family member needing assistance with their daily lived experience due to chronic illness, disability (physical or intellectual), mental health issue, addiction issue, socio-economic factors (ie. language barrier) 
 
An assessment will be done as part of the intake appointment in order to confirm eligibility.
