| Description | Transportation for Groceries/Shopping St Catharines Transit has been contracted by Sobey's Grocery Stores to provide transportation to and from various apartment buildings in St Catharines to the Sobey's Grocery Store at 400 Scott St. For more information contact Nick Phelan or David Redfearn at the Sobey's store at 905-935-9974. Scheduling is done by NF Transit (905-356-1179) and seniors are given 45 minutes to shop. The bus picks-up on Thursdays from the following locations: Huron Towers: 9:05am Portage Manor: 9:10am Joie de Vivre: 9:15am Kiwanis Cres: 9:20am 8065 MacLeod Rd: 9:25am Arrive Foodland: 9:35 am Leave Foodland: 10:20am A bus is offered through the Seaway Mall to pick-up and take people from Port Colborne to the Seaway Mall in Welland to shop. Bus Route runs the 1st Monday of the month. Call Port Cares for more information 905-834-3629 Grocery Delivery The Thorold Foodland offers a grocery delivery service for shut-ins in Thorold and St Catharines. Arrangements are made through Dale at 905-227-0902. For delivery on Monday clients must call Sunday between 8-10am. For delivery on Tuesday clients must call Monday between 6-8pm. The cost is $10 (cash or cheque) for the delivery. Seniors should mention to the stores they frequent that they would like a service if it is not available - demand for the service may prompt stores to adopt a program. |
