| Description | MEALS ON WHEELS: Home delivery of nutritious meals by volunteers. Hot meals available on Mondays to Fridays (choice of days) and frozen meals are selected from a menu and delivered weekly. Special diets are available on request. Client fees. LUNCH-OUT: Provides the opportunity for clients to get together on a regular basis to enjoy a meal and social activity. Transportation is available when required. Client fees. TRANSPORTATION: Provides volunteer drivers for rides to medical appointments, banking, grocery shopping. Five days notice required. Flat rate for local rides. Rates for out-of-local-area rides are based on actual mileage. Also provides transportation to medical appointments in Hamilton and possibly to other areas outside Niagara Region. VOLUNTEER VISITING: Volunteers visit with clients in the client's home providing friendship and socialization. The client and volunteer participate in activities that they both enjoy. PHONE CHAT: Caring volunteers telephone clients on a regular basis to check on the client's well being. HOME MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: Brokered workers provide home maintenance, grass cutting, gardening, snow shoveling, spring cleaning etc. Workers charge a reasonable fee for their services. HOMEMAKING: Service includes light housecleaning, shopping, cooking, meal preparation and laundry is available on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. Hourly fee applies. EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM: A 24-hour monitoring system that the client can use to summon emergency help when needed. Clients pay a monthly fee, no installation charge.
