DescriptionThe Law Society of Upper Canada is the governing body for lawyers and paralegals in Ontario. The primary responsibility or mandate of the Law Society is to regulate the legal profession in the public interest according to Ontario law and the Law Society's rules, regulations and guidelines.  
 
Will deal with complaints against Ontario lawyers. When making complaints, be prepared to put complaints in writing. Please refer to the website, "For the Public - Complaining about a Lawyer or Paralegal" for more information. 
 
The Law Society cannot order a lawyer to reduce the amount billed. For problems with a bill, talk to the lawyer or contact the Assessment Office of the Superior Court of Justice to make an appointment to have the bill reviewed.  
 
Lawyers Fund for Client Compensation: Provides reimbursement for money or property lost as a result of lawyer's dishonesty.
