| Description | The following are non profit organizations that will offer some manner of information and support to individuals wishing to stop smoking. Some are available to the general public, some are specific to their rostered clients only. Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) STOP (Stop Smoking Therapy for Ontario Patients) is a tobacco cessation program that includes workshops and five weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy for participants. CAMH is currently working with Family Health teams and Community Health Centres across Ontario in running STOP programs. If you are a patient or client with a Community Health Centre or a Family Health team, check to see if they are STOP program partners. A smoking cessation workshop is being held at Quest Community Health in St. Catharines on Feb 13, 2013. Clients may be eligible to receive free Nicotine Replacement Therapy following the workshop. Call Julia x 297 for more information. Public Health units are also partnering with CAMH to run these workshops. Niagara Region Public Health has already run its STOP workshops for 2013. PREGNETS.org – PREGNETS stands for the Prevention of Gestational and Neonatal Exposure to Tobacco Smoke. PREGNETS website, run by CAMH, offers help for pregnant and postpartum women to quit by offering information, resources and support online. Leave The Pack Behind Program (LTPB) - for college and university students All students at Brock University and at Niagara College are eligible for smoking cessation services at their campus student health services. They can receive free patch and gum as part of the service. Self-help materials provided are tailored to young adults and the nurses and doctors are ready to assist students to quit smoking.
