DescriptionSince the early 1900s the Welland Professional Fire Fighter Association has been serving the citizens of Welland. The firefighters' organization has held several names and titles over the years, but has come to be known as the Welland Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local #481.  
 
Currently the association has 51 members spread between four suppression platoons, training, and prevention/inspection divisions. 
 
The city of Welland staffs two pumpers, an aerial truck, and a rescue truck. The department responded to approximately 2337 calls in the year 2012. Those responses included fire, medical, hazardous materials, motor vehicle accidents, and rescue.  
 
Professional firefighters may be dispatched to any environment that is or may become dangerous to life, health, or property.
