DescriptionThe Red Cross is a volunteer based, community organization offering a range of humanitarian and emergency services. 
 
DISASTER MANAGEMENT: Provides short-term, personal disaster assistance such as food, clothing and shelter in small scale disasters and responds to larger scale disasters within the Niagara Region in cooperation with government and other agencies. Contact Lyndie ext. 7248 or Flo ext. 7238 
 
INTERNATIONAL AND YOUTH SERVICES: International and youth services volunteers promote and educate the public about humanitarian issues, restoring family links, and assist with international appeals. This involves; outreaching to various community groups and educational institutions, participating in community events and facilitating workshops. Volunteers may also assist the international youth coordinator with general office duties.  
 
INJURY PREVENTION: First Aid and CPR Courses are offered on a regular basis throughout Niagara. Babysitting, ChildCare and PeopleSavers courses are also offered. Volunteers with injury prevention would help out with special events by attending and facilitating at community safety events in order to raise awareness about the importance of injury prevention volunteers would also do customer service and administration duties such as answering phones, filing, and entering data. Volunteer positions are also available for First Aid Service Team (FAST) which provide first aid at community events. Contact Dana ext. 7251. 
 
TRANSPORTATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteers can become a volunteer driver, in which you use your own vehicle to provide transportation for seniors and the disabled to medical appointments and social outings. Contact Vikki at ext. 7245 
 
VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTATION: A program that is offered to seniors and individuals with disabilities (18 years and over) for medical appointments, compassionate visits and shopping ~ Transportation is available in the areas served by the Erie Lakeside, Niagara Falls and St Catharines Branches. All trip requests, client intakes and questions will be addressed by Barbara at ext. 7257 or Carolyn at ext. 7256 
 
NIAGARA SPECIALIZED TRANSIT: Operated by Canadian Red Cross on behalf of the Region of Niagara. This inter-municipal service is intended for persons who are unable to board a conventional bus or walk a distance of 175 metres. Eligibility and application process through the Region of Niagara; applications are available at Red Cross office. Trips for medical, education, and work purposes - For more information see Niagara Specialized Transit 
 
PORT COLBORNE SPECIALIZED TRANSIT: Operated by the Canadian Red Cross and provides curb-to-curb transportation for persons with a disability and/or persons who would be unable to board a conventional transit vehicle, or walk a distance of 175 metres (approx. 600 feet). The service is available to those travelling within the municipalities of Port Colborne and Wainfleet.  
 
FORT ERIE ACCESSIBLE SPECIALIZED TRANSIT: Operated by Canadian Red Cross on behalf of the Town of Fort Erie, this intra-municipal service is intended for persons with a disability and/or persons who are unable to board a conventional transit vehicle, or walk a distance of 175 metres. Eligibility criteria and application process through the Town of Fort Erie. Trip types are for medical, education, employment, social and recreation - For more Information and Applications please call 1-905-871-4655 
 
GENERAL OFFICE:: Provide front reception for the branches, process phone and walk in inquiries, provide information to clients/transfer them to the appropriate program staff. Assist with registration of first aid course participants, and assist with volunteer recruitment, such as processing application forms. Contact Sarah at ext. 7249 
 
DEPARTMENT OF PHILANTHROPY: The branch accepts financial donations to help support canadian Red Corss programs in Ontario. As well, donations are accepted for international appeals. Contact 905-680-4099, ext. 7250 for more information about Donations. Income tax receipts will be issued for all donations. For information on appeals, call ext. 7222
