| Public Comments | The Canada Revenue Agency will be offering new extended evening and weekend hours for their Individual Income Tax Enquiries telephone (1-800-959-8281) from February 22 to April 30, 2010. Telephone agents will be available Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8:15 am-9 pm weekdays, and from 9 am-5 pm on Saturdays (except Easter weekend). The automated service will remain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. |

| Description | Formerly Revenue Canada. A federal agency established to administer tax services for the Government of Canada. In September 2006, the St Catharines Tax Office implemented an "appointment only" system for individual and business enquiries. If a taxpayer wishes to meet with an Individual or Business Enquiries Agent at the local office, they must first call either 1-800-959-8281 (English) or 1-800-959-7383 (French)for an appointment with an Individual Enquiries Agent, or for an appointment with a Business Enquiries Agent, 1-800-959-5525 (English) or 1-800-959-7775 (French). Printouts may be obtained by viewing the My Account for Individuals feature on the website at (www.cra-arc.gc.ca/myaccount), or by calling the 1-800 telephone numbers noted above. Self-serve telephones linked directly to the Enquiries Call Centres are available for use in the lobby area of the Tax Office. Some forms are available (self-serve)in the Tax Office, or you may download or order them from the CRA website (www.cra.gc.ca/formspubs), or by calling 1-800-959-2221 (english) or 1-800-959-3376 (French). Goods and Services Tax Credits (GST/HST) payments are generally issued on the 5th day of each quarter: January, April, July, and October. Any amount in excess of $100 will be divided by four. For any refund of less than $100, one cheque will be issued in July for the entire year. Goods and Service Tax amount is 5%. Payments for the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) and the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB)are generally issued on the 20th day of each month, and can be direct deposited, if requested in writing. Information is available on the website for CCTB, UCCB and the GST/HST at www.cra-arc.gc.ca/benefits Individuals may wish to register for My Account for Individuals to access their own personal tax information on the CRA website at: www.cra-arc.gc.ca/eservices. Information for Businesses: payroll, registering your business, GST registration, allowable deductions, reporting of income, sole proprietor, partnerships, corporations, etc. can be found on the website at: www.cra-arc.gc.ca/business. Business owners may also register for "My Business Account" to have access to their business information on-line. As of Oct 3, 2006 CRA no longer accepts mail or other correspondence in person at the front counter. Correspondence may be mailed via Canada Post, placed in drop boxes conveniently located both inside and outside of the Tax Office, or taxpayers can choose to make use of various electronic options available on the CRA website.
