| Description | In-patient Services: Complex Continuing Care (Chronic) -- 40 beds providing hospital-based services for clients with complex or chronic conditions requiring continuing interdisciplinary care and professional medical management. Short-Stay Acute Care --there are six beds for patients who may need to be in hospital for an acute illness for up to 48 hours Out-patient Services: Urgent Care Centre -- Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Urgent Care Centre provides non-emergency care for a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, including cuts that require stitches, sprained ankles, ear infection, etc. Onsite lab, x-ray and ultrasound services are available. Niagara Diabetes Centre, Fort Erie satellite location -- provides diabetes counselling/education either in group or individual appointment formats for newly diagnosed and established diabetes. Specialty programs are also offered for paediatrics, pregnancy and insulin pumps. All appointments are booked through the main office in Welland via phone 905-682-4200 or fax 905-682-3622. Program access requires physician referral. General information can be accessed via NDC@niagarahealth.on.ca. Palliative Care --Inpatient and outpatient services are offered for those nearing end of life in a caring and supportive environment. Ontario Breast Screening Program -- a breast screening and assessment service for women 50 years of age and older. No referral necessary but appointment required. Contact 905-871-4673. Cardiac Health and Rehab Program - Exercise Component -- offers supervised exercise programs at the local YMCA. A physician's referral is required. Contact 905-641-2542, Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Methadone Clinic -- Contact 905-378-4647 ext 50102 Volunteer Resources -- the hospital has an active adult and youth volunteering program to compliment the work of hospital staff.
