| Description | A non-profit agency dedicated to providing support, information and socializing opportunities for young carers and their families. Young carers are children and teens whose lives are impacted because they are caring for an ill or disabled family member at home,or who help via translating and advocacy due to language barriers. The Powerhouse Project -Young Carers Initiative offers after-school and evening programs providing homework help; computer/internet access; craft activities; Wii video games; puzzles, board games, cards; movies and special outings. Our staff and out programs are mobile and are offered throughout the region of Niagara. There is a permanent Drop In service at the centre every Tuesday. This array of programs helps young carers to destress, have fun, and connect with others in similar roles. |
