| Description | Responsible for Administration, Finance, Planning and Zoning, Building Inspections, Operations (Public Works, Engineering, Parks, Pools, Arena, Cemetery), Fire Protection, Public Transit and Library. CITY COUNCIL which consists of the Mayor and eight Councillors, is the executive arm of the Corporation responsible for policy setting (including budgets), strategic planning and political leadership. ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT the Chief Administrative Officer oversees all City services, administrative functions and economic development. CLERKS DEPARTMENT is responsible for issuing lottery, marriage, business, dog and hunting licences. Also registration of vital statistics, transit/paratransit applications, and Council Secretariat Services. Also responsible for the management of City records, Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy requests and Municipal Elections. FINANCE DEPARTMENT is responsible for collection of taxes, water billing, accounts receivable/payable and budget preparation. OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT ARENA DIVISION is responsible for maintenance and operation of arenas and swimming pools. LAKEVIEW CEMETERY is responsible for maintenance of cemetery, including plot and mausoleum sales. PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION is responsible for development and maintenance of park and playground facilities. PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION is responsible for street lighting, road improvements and maintenance, water and sewers. PLANNING DIVISION is responsible for administration of Official Plan and Zoning By-Law regulations and amendments. Also site plans and agreements. BUILDING & BY-LAW DIVISION is responsible for the regulation & enforcement of the Ontario Building Code and all City by-laws and Crossing Guards. FIRE DEPARTMENT is responsible for fire and emergency calls, fire prevention and emergency planning. |
