DescriptionLocal municipal government office which administers the following departments: Community & Corporate Services (Clerk/Treasury/Community Services Divisions), Chief Administrator's Office, Mayor's Office, Engineering & Operations Department, Planning & Development Department,Port Colborne Economic,Tourism and Development and Fire Department.  
 
CITY COUNCIL, consisting of the Mayor and eight Councillors, is the executive arm of the Corporation responsible for policy setting (including budgets), strategic planning and political leadership. 
 
 
CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE ultimately oversees all City services and administrative functions. Has the responsibility for Economic Development through the Port Colborne Economic, Tourism & Development Corporation, the City's human resources functions, ie recruitment, collective bargaining, etc, resides with this office. This department is also responsible for information systems coordination (computer network), database management, and computer applications development.  
 
BUILDING AND BY-LAW DIVISION is responsible for services relating to building permits, property standards and by-law enforcement.  
COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION is responsible for parks and recreation services and the production of Special Events.  
 
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TOURISM AND MARKETING is responsible for economic development and establishing, promoting and overseeing all Tourism functions. 
 
CORPORATE SERVICES DIVISION is responsible for issuance of licences, including business, raffle or lottery, marriage and dog; registration of births and deaths, levying and collection of municipal taxes and sewer and water charges; all other treasury functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits administration; preparation of current and capital budgets and audit procedures; procedures under Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Legislation; and functions relating to Council administration and the statutory functions of the Clerk (ie agendas, minutes). The Division is the primary contact for compliance letters.  
 
STRATEGIC PROJECTS OFFICE is responsible for strategic and special projects as directed through the CAO's Office.  
 
FIRE SERVICES DIVISION is responsible for the protection of life and property from fire or any other emergency which could hinder or impede the safety of residents or persons visiting or traveling through the municipality.  
 
ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT strategically plans, designs, constructs, operates and maintains the City's municipal infrastructure while ensuring the enhancement and preservation of the environment associated with those systems.  
 
PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIVISION provides planning advice and service both to City Council and the public, including the processing of a wide range of development approval applications. 
Provides dead animal removal for the municipality. 
 
Birth, Death and Marriage Certificate Application forms can be obtained at the Clerks Department at City Hall.
