DescriptionAdvances safe, fair and harmonious workplace practices * responsible for occupational health and safety, employment rights and responsibilities, labour relations and internal administration * enforces the Employment Standards Act and its regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act * settles workplace disputes and assists in the settlement of collective agreements 
 
The general minimum wage rates as of March 31, 2010 are as follows:  
General (hourly) $10.25 
Students under 18 (hourly) $9.60 
Liquor Servers (hourly) $8.90 
 
Please note that special rules apply to certain job categories (such as harvest workers).
