| Description | Through Employment Ontario, the province's employment and training network, assistance is available to help individuals to build their careers, and keep learning, throughout their working lives. Employment Ontario connects people looking for work with employers looking for workers. It is a one-stop source of information about jobs, job search skills, training, education, and other services for employees and employers. Second Career provides laid-off workers with training to help them find jobs in high demand occupations in Ontario. Through the program, eligible participants receive support for tuition, books, travel and other expenses related to their training plan. An apprentice is someone who learns a skilled trade on the job, under the direction of more experienced workers. Apprentices also complete classroom instruction as part of their training. Apprentices are employees, and earn a salary while they learn a skilled trade. | |||
