The new hospital will feature single patient rooms, so that each person has dignity and privacy during their recovery. The current number of 214 in-patient beds will also increase to a capacity of 305 and will be the new home of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences of McMaster University and for the first time in Hamilton, integrate inpatient and outpatient mental health services alongside outpatient medical services, research facilities and academic partnerships. It will be a place of hope and healing, of relationships and partnerships, and of visionary care.
