DescriptionVeterans Affairs Canada (VAC) provides a number of health support services to veterans and their dependents, as well administers disability pensions, widows pensions, prisoner of war pensions, allowances, and other related benefits * VAC has adopted a client centred philosophy and an interdisciplinary approach to service delivery * Case managers are available to assist eligible clients to gain access to departmental and community resources to promote their independence.  
 
Home support benefits are available through our Veterans Independence Program (VIP) and comprehensive health care coverage through our treatment program. Funding for Long Term Care is also available. Case managers provide and co-ordinate assessment services and care plan with the clients to address any outstanding needs. Departmental protocols and policies are in place to assist clients experiencing dementia, caregiver burden, elder abuse and neglect, grief, death and dying as well as psychiatric disorders including depression, suicide, substance abuse and post traumatic stress disorders relating to military service.
